I really took my time with this book. It was so gripping, and yet savoring all at the same time. Definitely not what I expected, you know the usual girl meets vampire, girl falls in love quickly, sparkles and everything. Not in this book. These vamps were brutal, uncaring, self indulging psychos. But one things for sure family is important along with survival. This book is told from two point of views, Violet's and Kaspar's. I wished that there were more of Kaspar's point of view. I really enjoyed his view little more than hers. Violet's character grew throughout the story. She quickly had to learn how to keep secrets amongst vampires, which was really difficult. Kaspar really surprised me with the way he evolved. At first, I didn't really like him in the beginning, but as I continued reading I began to see who he is under all that mean and selfish persona. Overall, one of my favorites of the year. I can't wait for the sequel!!!
